The third runway of Shenzhen Airport is located between the second runway of Shenzhen Airport and the Guangzhou Shenzhen Yangtze River Expressway. It is parallel to the west side of the second runway, with a length of 3600 meters and a width of 45 meters. The flight zone is constructed according to the highest level of 4F level, and after completion, it can take off and land various large passenger aircraft such as A380. This can meet the demand target of an annual passenger throughput of 80 million and a cargo and mail throughput of 2.6 million tons, effectively improving the airport's operational support capacity.
The three runway expansion project of Shenzhen Airport is a key project in Guangdong Province. The planned sea area is about 2.855 million square meters. The key content of the project is about 2.37 million square meters of land formation and 2.43 million square meters of soft foundation treatment. The total length of the outer sea embankment is about 7437.7 meters, mainly including the outer sea embankment, runway area, taxiway, soil surface area, water surface area, site cofferdam, crossing road and bypass taxiway, a total of seven functional zones.
After the completion of the three runways, it will promote the construction of world-class bay areas and world-class urban agglomerations in depth, and have a radiating, driving, and leading role in the construction and development of international aviation hubs and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. It has significant strategic significance.
